Operate Breathing Apparatus
This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to operate and maintain breathing apparatus and equipment in a possibly irrespirable, hazardous atmosphere.
This qualification applies to operators who are required to wear breathing apparatus for part of their tasks – because they are working in a confined space, with hazardous gases/vapours, in an oxygen deficient atmosphere or for other applications requiring the wearing of breathing apparatus. The Workers may also be required to wear it in some emergency situations, however it is important to note that this is not the primary focus of this unit; it differs from PUAFIR207A Operate breathing apparatus open circuit, as it has no prerequisite and is much broader in its application.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
